Spring???

I am in hopes that the signs of spring are for real. The weather is warm and the snow in the ditches are gone but it still lingers in the back of my mind, snow storms the end of March in years gone by. Robins are back along with the geese flying north and the small birds are fighting for the bird house on the porch already. Tulip and daffodil leaves are near 8 inches high and signs of buds on the daffodils.

Well I'll take the days as they come. The fresh smell of spring is intoxicating. Makes me want to get out the flower garden tools and put the furniture on the deck and front porch. I'll stop at putting up the decorative bird houses up by the back door for now. I did go and purchase a pink blossom shamrock today, though. My mom says that my Grandma Matilda had that kind. Heres hoping I keep it alive.

Spring,,,,,

Yes I think Spring is coming soon. Tulip and daffodil leaves are poking through the dirt. Been checking the forsythia to see if the buds are swelling so I can bring a branch inside to force the blossoms. Crazy weather 40s to 65, sunny to cloudy. windy to calm and some sprinkles thrown in for extra measure.

Mixed up some chocolate bars for mom today. Hummmmmmmmmm sure were tasty.

Made great headway today on Sarah and Jays quilt. Finished 12 log cabin blocks. Have read and reread the steps for the evergreen tree blocks and will attempt them tomorrow. Need 20 of the tree blocks so I may have to check the fabric stash for some more greens.

Long day, checking out for now.

Where Have I Been?

I guess the summer just sucked me away. I can't believe my last blog was in April...
I think I got lost, but I found me....

I had a busy day, quilting with Gods Grace Our Hands quilting group at church. Last month we threw out the idea of making 100 quilts for our church to donate thru Lutheran World Relief. We laughed at the idea, but quickly decided to meet every Tuesday instead of the previous twice a month.

I counted today and we have 28 done, not as many as I was wishing for, but we have surpassed last years 17. So we work on.

One gal Elvina, she is either 90 or near it, she is a doll. She sits and ties for those 6 hours, always has a smile on her face and can tie a 60x80 quilt faster then you can sew the next one. She will be leaving soon for her winter in Florida, so we have to get to sewing so we can get them ready for her to tie. Two weeks ago she tied all day, took 5 home, she brought them back on Sunday and took 3 more and her son picked up another 3 the next Sunday.

Our deadline is the 2nd Sunday in October, so we sew on towards our goal.

Gods country

It sure is pretty up here. Every one of Grants windows on the back of his house looks like a picture when you look out of it, such a nice woods in the back yard.

Getting lots done, one finished and one to tie twin quilts for Project Linus. Rachel and Grant head out to go turkey hunting today after school. Pat, mom and I meet Aunt Phyllis for lunch in Ironwood.

Been in the hot tub twice so far, it is really relaxing. So we have lots of leftovers for supper so we can coast this afternoon.

Pat and I went to Ironwood yesterday. She went to the stamp store and I went to the quilt store. I won................... Marge emailed and said that was no surprise. But we all know she wins in shoes. Found a great pattern and fabric for Pats winter wall quilt. Phoned the company but product has not been shipped to them yet. I will keep checking.

Off to help Grant refill the hot tub.

Loveing our vacation.

God has blessed me again

Wow, what a beautiful day it was yesterday. It has to be sunny and warm to get me in the flower beds this early in the spring. Well it was both yesterday. I filled a large wheel barrel with just the small sticks and walnuts left from my Beautiful Black Walnut tree.

Second on the work list, I pulled all the dead leaves and branches from the flower beds by the deck. Today? Who knows, I would like to get another eye sore in the very back weeded, but it has to warm up a little more first.

God has blessed me so much with the time and place to have my flower gardens, the only thing is I jump from one project to another.

I want to complete one or two quilts for my quilting group to tie when I go up to my sons in a week. I also want to get my sisters second wall quilt top completed and get it mostly quilted before then also. Then there is the flower beds, and the messy garage. Decisions, decisions.

I think coffee is my first choice. I think I will set with my cup in the silence and count my many blessings God has given me. See you in the garden.

March is almost gone.

Wow, we have snow again. Well it's better then sleet. I'm sure the tulips poking thru woke up with a shiver this morning.

Mom is here visiting, what a blessing to have her here. Some visits I don't get to talk to her very much and this is a nice time to catch up. Too soon these days will be no more. She is near 92 and can read a book a day if you don't bother her.

We had blueberry pancakes for breakfast and now laundry, her walking and I want to work on Pats second quilt when mom gets into her book again. I'm sure my sister Pat and her family are having a fun morning at Pat's daughters, waking up with two little ones in Deb and Henry house. I hope they have a great visit all together.

We had a busy Saturday at church, 28 or so members came and we cleaned the church top to bottom. I gave the big old cook stove/oven a scrub down and now its all ready for Easter breakfast pancakes in a few weeks. I made a hugh kettle of vegtable soup and some brought sandwiches. Mom enjoyed the many visits when different ones took breaks.

Well off to our busy day. Enjoy the snow it may be a long time before its back.

Dang..............

Okay,

I didn't file my stove pamphlet where I should have, so I could find it. I tried to set the time ahead on the stove display Saturday nite.

Well, It came up 5A6 and I couldnt use the stove or change the clock or anything.
I made a call Monday to the store where I purchased this lovely stove and they said
they would sent someone out on Wednesday between 4 and 6.

Well he came and said OH its reading sAb not 5A6. He made one call on his cell phone, held the clock button down and Whala.............the time comes back on, the stove works and he charges me $65.00.

Now isn't that just lovely...................So much for a courtesy call...........I guess they don't do that any more...............

Dang.
